PHASE #3 - Common mistakes to avoid before you purchase

  1. Price negotiation is an Art and you are the Artist. It’s so easy for someone else to spend your money isn’t it? Always remember, it’s your money and no one will protect it as well as you can!
  2. Know the real market value for your RV by searching the web from other buyers. Contact them asking for help with this.
  3. Be reasonable with your offer, but always start low. Sellers expect this. For example, if the seller is asking 80K, they are likely to have already determined to sell at 75K, so start your offer at 70 or 72, so they will meet you in the middle at 75.
  4. Always require an inspection if used and thorough walk through. Also ask for any free camping nights or memberships.
  5. Always test drive or tow if possible and make offer contingent upon this.
  6. Make sure deposit is refundable.
  7. Check for pets and if smoker. Make sure you see all warranty and service records. Again, RV inspections are necessary.
  8. Ask the salesperson if they are being paid a SPIFF on a unit if they seem to push it on you.
  9. Be sure to check roof seals around ac’s, vents, and anything else that is there.
  10. Check tires! Make sure there’s no dry rot and plenty of tread. Make sure the PSI is to manufacturer recommendations.
